The water in that picture is only ankle deep...Some of the pictures I see on television the water is waist high or higher...Gotta feel bad for those affected by all that water....

Not sure where that photo was taken. We were in Kerrville for the weekend and missed the rain in College Station. We did have plenty there. My neighbor told me we got 2 3/4 inches of rain in an hour Monday evening so there was definitely some areas that got some flooding. Our house sits high and dry so no flooding problems here.

I doubt that pic is of College Station, never seen any palm trees there, more likely south Texas.

I pulled it off a Yahoo search page. It stated College Station underneath the picture. I guess that's what I was going by.

Let's say this, my front yard in a dfw subdivision has loggerhead snapping turtles coming up from the creeks to rest

My grass has not been cut in a month it's so soggy and rains every week before our yard guys get here !

Small inconveniences compared to some real disasters for some... our prayers are with them !

I had to deal with two rattlesnakes last week, one inside the garage. And since my yard is not as tall as the surrounding area, we have plenty of wildlife stopping by. The jack-rabbits are bigger than our dog. Saw the first fawn a few days ago. Several wild turkeys came thru yesterday afternoon and this morning's walk we observed a nice sized crayfish on the road.

Some of the neighbors have lost their boat docks. But as you stated, nothing close to the problems elsewhere.

The thunder last night REALLY kept us all awake it was so bad - like rifle shots in the back yard ...
and the rain washed my non-floating mulch out of the beds onto the sidewalks!
but again, only nuisances to us, not like real issues of others and it's supposed to storm the whole weekend!

And thought I did post a pic of the new rig

More rv than we ever DREAMED we could get...
first one is a shy picture of it trying to FIT in our storage location...
the last one is the big boy with toad vehicle parked out front...

Received a call from The Vineyards Campground at Grapevine yesterday informing me they had to cancel my reservations in August.
Said they are flooded out, water was up to the roof of the office.
Although they said they'd be closed until at around October, no definite time line exists until the water recedes.

Yes Sir Lloyd ! very, very humbled and blessed !!!

We went from a couple of weeks of LOTs of rain to 100 degrees today

when our yard guys FINALLY cut the grass after 6 weeks, even their monster mowers had to slow down to stop choking and bogging !

The Corp of engineers has released a statement they until the rivers have a chance to drop a LOT, they will hold the lakes as they are and not release...
They also stated without the lakes to hold the water 100,000 of thousands would have had issues from the water coming down the rivers...

I have heard that there are only one or two natural lakes in Texas and all the other 1000's are man made for water retention and flood control...

John - not sure where you are heading, but mill creek in Canton (about an hour east of DFW) is very nice ...

Actually, only one natural lake and that is Caddo Lake, on the La. state line.

Dayle1, I just read a note on Facebook about some of my friends who were devastated by the floods in San Marcos. I want to thank you and the Texas Baptist Men for the great work that you do. Some folks from your group helped deconstruct my friends' home which was a relief for them and their families. It was heartwarming to read about the prayers that your group offered for their recovery. Thank you so much. You have made a difference in their lives.

Right now we are working at a church in Redmond, Oregon. Put up about 4000 sq. ft. of roof trusses yesterday. Next week we are off, will spend 3 days on the Oregon coast, then 3 days at Crater Lake. We still have two more 2 week sessions and a week off in-between and then head home.

Our preferred camping spot is really Cloudcroft, NM as it is the closest place to escape Tx heat. But looks like we will be hotter here in Redmond than back home.

Not building pontoons just yet. We have had lots of rain (twice yesterday) but I am not going to complain. After going through the drought for the past several years we were in real need of the rain. My guess is that it will stop raining in July then turn hot and dry and we will be wanting some rain.

We are headed out toward South Fork tomorrow morning. Going to make a detour through Winfield, KS and hope to be in SF by Friday.

Larry, y'all are in nice country. We were there in 2007 for a Good Sam Rally.
