When I went to the factory last week it was the first long trip with the 5ver in tow. On the way to I averaged 12.5 mpg and on the way back I averaged9 mpg. On the way out all tanks were empty and on the way home the fresh was 2/3 or more (but not full) and some water in all the other holding tanks (less than 1/3). Overall travel was 837.5 miles and used 82.5 gallons of fuel. I thought this was good MPG.

G'day George

We get 8 - 9 mpg, depending on the speed limit and I really don't know my weight.

It sounds like you are getting very good gas mileage.

Just returned from a week in Williamsburg, VA. Got about 9 mpg on the way to and a little over 8 on the way back. I had less weight coming back, but sat on I-95. We averaged 15 miles per hour for about 20 miles due to accidents and such . I'll never travel that road again.

We went to Myrtle Beach last weekend and average just below 12 there and back. It really helps when the roads are that flat.

We left CO and headed to GA then up to KY returned to GA to drop off the grandkids and back home to Colorado.First tank of gas we did extremely well about 12 MPG however after that lots of hills and wind overall entire trip We averaged 9.8 MPG. running 65 most of the time I think I'll trim back to 60 and see if it gives a significant change as we have a 4x10 rear end and the truck does not like to go fast anyway

With my 04-diesel I could get around 10-11. With the 09, I got 9 going down to Missouri with a FULL tank of water, but coming back I only got 7 due to the 30-mph wind I was fighting all the way home.

I went to Myrtle Beach last week myself. I got anywhere from 9.9 to 11.5 MPG. This was done using a calculater as the onboard computer in my truck is about 3 MPG off. I was cruising anywhere between 65 and 70. The winter blend diesel along with the Ultra Low Sulpher sucks.

Fuel = Power to pull.

The more power you need themore fuel you use. I don't even check.

We run at 58 MPH turning just over 1700 RPMs and hand calculted we average 13-14 MPG in the east depending on conditions. We do no cold weather driving so winter fuel is not in our program. We fulltime and our average has been steady over the last 2 years since the odometer crossed 35k miles. Go Dodge, 6 slow turning cylinders with lots of tour que.

We get 9.8 miles per gallon with our F550 pulling a 40 foot 2004 Silverado. Â*Without the 5ver we get 13.3

I am pulling through the south (Tucson - Jacksonville and back) so far in the 11's mpg but when I start heading in the mountains in California going back home will be in the 9's. I am forced in CA to pull at 55-60 all other times I am at 65 tops.
But I must agree it changes now and then but it is a nice to track.

Hey we have been back from Fla, GA, TN, KY for 3 days now and were gone since February 12th. I cleared my drivers information center pulling out of my drive and just looked at in when we got home. According to that we got 11.1mpg for the over all trip and i am happy with that. I'm not sure if there is anything I can do to bring that up a little but if now guess I will be happy with it.

Well, the overhead display on my 6 cylinder is rather misleading. It always reads on the optimistic side. So here are my hand calculated numbers:

8230 km, or 4938 miles

630.23 gallons of diesel

7.8 mpg

Our route had lots of mountains, and wind.

GCVW is around 23000 lbs, depending on tank levels.

I think I am getting 12 mpg but i do pull around 70mph...My truck pulls the PP Great... I try to go slower but I like to keep with the flow traffic.... Also i don't have to downshift as much at that speed.Edited by: onlyrj

Yeah, I was hoping for a little better mpg. But this trip did double what I have on the odometer, so it should get better. However, this was a good excuse to convince the wife that I should put a chip on there, for mileage of course. Just a coincidence it will get more power too!

As far as weight goes, the way it handled itself, I am not at all worried. I know according to the conservative tow capacities, I should have a dually. My tires are definitely not a repeat purchase though. They don't have the weight capacity I want, and a large portion of them ended up on our trailer in dust format. They are 33 x 13.5 R18Toyo Open Country M/Ts, so it was no big surprise. I am starting to look around for a good replacement, probably this fall. A goodA/T that handles snow and ice would be great. And hopefully looks good too.Edited by: lenny

99 F250 6.8 liter V10. Usually over 9 mpg and under 10 depending on wind and hills.
