I have 200 amp in the house I ran 10-2 wire to the 5th wheel to give me 30 amp. With the AC runing in the house and the AC and Ref runing in the 5th wheel I am reading only 106 to 108 in the 5th. Isthat enough power to keep everything running. It is pretty hot here and we are leaving in the morning. I wanted to keep the 5th cool with all of the food in there. I used 10-2 wire but I had to run 100 feet. Should I have usedNo. 6wire. Thanks

I would probably have run 8 AWG for that distance. I havent done the number crunch, but would have done so from experience. If you have good voltage at the house panel, then you are dropping the voltage between the house and the camper. Assuming your connections are good and tight, that leaves the drop on the wire. I will defer to others on the consequences of running loads at that voltage but I wouldn't do it. Low voltage generally means the load will pull more current and that can be a bad thing IMHO.

Anything much less than 110VAC and you're asking for trouble, especially if you're subject to power surges.

I have the basic same set up as you, but, I have an Autoformer that keeps the voltage up and prevents any type of voltage drops or brown outs.

I agree, No. 8 awg wire would have been a better choice over that distance. 110 volts is about as low as you would want.

Yes # 8 wire is needed and the voltage is too low . 10% is all the appliances are rated for. in other words 108 to 132 volts. Past that damage can occur due to (in the case of low voltage) excessive current (amps) draw.

x 3 on 8awg. This is like friction loss in a water hose, you'll have the pressure but you will not have the gpm's, in a small hose. In electricity, you'll have the voltage but you'll lose the amperage in the small wiring.
