14-50R wiring

I had my uncle who has been an electrician for 40 years install a 14-50R at my fathers house so that we can plug in when visiting. Although I trust his ability, I wasn't in town when he wired it and when I showed up all looked good but instead of a 50amp breaker, he has it wired to a 60amp breaker. Is this safe? Google isn't giving me the quick answer I was hoping for, or perhaps I just wasn't asking the right question. Thanks in advance.

He probably sized the breaker to the wire he ran to the outlet. No problems there except your power cord is only good for 50A. It shouldn't cause a problem but you never know. Make sure he wired it with both a ground AND a neutral and not just as a welder plug. That would be my concern.

Thanks for the reply. I broke out the multimeter before plugging up and all tested correctly. I assume if a welder plug was used it wouldn't test out correctly? Running for a day on it so far so good.
