AC

Has anybody had any experience, or have knowledge regarding the low profile AC units?
They use to be notorious for frosting up compared to the regular high profile units. Is this still an issue?

Am currently camped next to an Airstream with dual Dometic low profile units. Don't know about frost but they sure put out a lot of noise outside the rig. A lot more than high profile ones that I've been around. Don't know what it sounds like inside.

My second unit is a lower profile (9.5") Dometic 13.5k. No problems with it freezing up since 2014.

Do you by any chance know what the height of your 15,000 btu unit is?

Sorry, Lloyd. They had moved on by the time I got your request. I'll look around the campground for others.

We have the Coleman low profile in the bedroom on our unit and haven't had any issues with freezing up. However it was noisy so talked to the rep at the factory rally and he sent me a fan upgrade kit which did quiet it down some.

Little late to the party but, we've had 3 of the Dometic Penguin 13.5 units. They are noisy and trouble prone IMHO. We replaced the one on the Rushmore with a regular 15K Dometic. Lots quieter. We are 13'2" now. No problem.

Hello Lloyd, you getting a new a/c? I saw a split unit with the compressor mounted on the tounge and the rest inside up high on the front wall. It was only 9500 btu but was super quiet and cooled well. I'm not ready yet, but sure was interested. Our roof mounted is really noisy. Happy Trails

Sorry. I missed your question here.
Actually, to be completely honest about it, we are looking at new campers. Now it's either a good thing, or, a bad thing. Depending how you look at it.They are all a little to tall to fit in my building the way they come.
