Air compressor

Looking for a air compressor with no tank that will inflate truck tires up to 80 psi with out much trouble. Have used them before but can't remenber the brand name. Any help would be appreciate. Thank you

Al, Do you have one of these products?
Can they be purchased in AC as well as DC? Myself, I like the AC models. That way I can stretch out an extension cord and just go around the trailer.
I have whats called an inflater made by Campfield Hawser. (I think) It dosen't work any where near as good as the first one I had. Kind of worthless.

I have a Slime compressor and have been very satisfied with the performance. Bought it first for use on our motorcycle tires.....My wife could feel the slightest change in handling on her Kingpin so this was a must to have along.

Our unit is 12 volt only.....It is roughly 6" square and less than 3" thick.....very compact and light weight.

I guess either AC or DC you will be required to run some type of cord to supply power.....The advantage to 12 volt is that you will be able to operate on the road in an emergency.....unless of course, you also carry a generator along.

Lloyd I do have the Slime 12volt unit. Had it for two years and it has performed well. Use it to top off pressure. I do not believe it is offered in AC. I also carry a 12' 12 volt extension and use the Tow vehicle outlet.

These 12 volt units tend to get hot so I let it rest between tires if I am adjusting several.Edited by: socoguy

I'll have to get back to you on the compressor I have since mama has the truck. It does have a built-in cooling fan which keeps it from overheating.
I did add a 25' coiled air hose from Harbor Freight with quick disconnect fittings.

Got tired of the 12V units burning up when using it to inflate my truck and trailer tires to 80 psi. I finally purchased a model with a tank. So far has given me 4 years of service without any issues.

I purchased the accessory kit too. I use a fitting that screws into the city water connections and then use the </span>blow gun to pressurize the water lines and drain them/blow them out through the low point drains. Once I get all of the water out I still use RV antifreeze to ensure there are no low points that could freeze and damage the piping/faucets/toilet.

The compressor tank has a drain valve on it which is good too - blow down after ever use to ensure no water builds up in the tank. Over a period of time it could lead to excessive rusting inside the tank.

All purchased at Lowe's when it was on sale.

Storage space is always a "premium" in most RVs. I made a "self" for it to sit on in the storage compartment.

Bob, I was looking at that one as well to put in the Seville. I think I'm going to Harbor Freight and put air lines out on both sides (not sure yet how I'll get the line out) with quick connects on each side so I can bracket the compressor in the front storage area and not have to haul it around. I want to put one out toward the pinbox as well so I can use it on the TrailAire as well.

I like your idea of blowing down the lines before pumping those. I think I will do that this year as well. I usually just pump the antifreeze in the Seville. I always did the blowdown on any previous camper we had.

OK. I got to the truck. My compressor is a Delco Truck Air.
I've had it for over 10 years. Never had any problems with it. As mentioned in my previous post, it has a built-in cooling fan.

I have that Porter Cable one as well and LOVE IT!!! What do you use for a power source while in your trailer??? More to the point, have you come up with a way of powering it on the side if the road I an emergencyEdited by: Gsxrgrizz

I keep the air tank pressurized (full) after use. I only have an AC source when I bring my generator - that is only 2-3 times per year. In an emergency I would be out of luck.

I do have the Good Sam emergency road service - if I have a issue I can use the service for truck or trailer needs.

One benifit of the small 12volt compressor. Not as efficient as AC powered but works on the roadside.
