Hello Fellow Campers;

Well just thought I would share another blowout story with everyone. I replaced my Towmax tires two years ago because of two blowouts on the same trip to Myrtle Beach. I replaced all four with "Hi Run" 10 ply tires. Last weekend we left the house and 20 min later I was on the side of the road and calling Good Sam Roadside Service. The blowout was on curb side of the trailer and I did have some damage with the skirting and have talked to local dealership with estimated a repair bill of about $450.00. Took Good Sam Service about 70 min to get me help and person who arrived did a great job. He had to replace the stem on the spare (need to check this more often) and I headed to local tire store for new rubbers. I replaced all four with Maxis tires at $159.00 each.

I still cannot believe that two year old tire blew and peeled like an oinion. The whole middle tread was gone, but it stayed on the rim and did not blow apart like my others did. We did not hit anything also.

We managed to salvage the weekend trip, but was a 1K Friday for us. Don't like these when we were only headed about 2 hours to a local campground.

Guess I will have to start a tire fund to replace them every 2-3 years. ugh.

Wellhope everyone is enjoying their summer and using theirrigs to the max. Hope to see some of you in acampground soon.

I replaced my stock tires with Michelin LT tires and haven't looked back since.

Frankly, I don't think there is a trailer tire sold nowadays that's worth a warm bucket of spit.

Just my opinion, of course.

Keith, I am with Jeb on this one. Since we replaced the Mission crapola tires that came on our trailer with BFG Commercial LT tires we have not had any problems after 2 years (I am knocking on wood so I don't jinx myself).

I'm jumping in with LT tire crowd. I had the nylon 10 ply tires that were not wearing nicely. I replaced them with LT tires 3 years ago and all has been good since.

Knock, Knock, Knock on that same wood Hunter11 is hitting!!!

I'm jumping in with our story. We went on a trip from Portland, OR to Yellowstone, MT and when we arrived at the campground we noticed one of our tires was going flat fast. The tire was bowing out and starting to shred. Thankfully we were at the campground! The last time that happened was when we were on our way to camp when a tire shredded on the side of a road. We replaced that tire with a Dynatrail. We were told that it was a "fluke" that our Mission radial tire shredded the way it did, so we didn't replace the other tires.

Unfortunately the AAA person who helped us in Yellowstone sold us a Carlisle tire for $150. On the way back from Yellowstone, before we got to Twin Falls we noticed that one of the Mission tires grabbed a nail. We are heading to Les Schwab in the morning before we take off to get two more Dynatrails.

Did the OP have Mission tires? If so, anything over 65 mph is dangerous and is asking for a tire failure.

Sorry, I was referring to the post Threedognight made. Our PP came with them also and they did not last 5k miles before two gave up. Ours never saw anything over 62 mph and still crapped out.

Hunter 11: We don't travel over 65 mph, usually keeping our speed between 58-62 mph. We made it to the Les Schwab in Jerome, ID and received excellent service (as usual at a Les Schwab). They didn't have Dynatrail tires, only TowMax.

Our trailer is 3 years old, we don't take long trips, this is the longest and furthest we've gone. The people at Les Schwab told us that we were very lucky that we replaced the tires when we did because they were separating.

Steve Ford will get to share his blowout story with the folks at the Crossroads rally and show off the damage it caused.

YES I will! I'm bringing the trophy with me. If I could figure out how to post my pictures I will or you can email for them sford22@hotmail.com & I will send them to you. I sent an email to Crossroads explaining I was enroute to the Factory Rally, wanting to get my RV repaired. Received a nice no from Tracy & I responded back to her & Dave about service & no response, yet?!?!?! The tire issue was the number 1 complaint at our TX Crossroads Rally we had this past March 2011, ask Dave, he was there. I have no more than 3000 miles on our CF31REP with Trail Express made in china ST235/80R16 tires, that we purchase in Feb 2010. I have almost the same damage as "Virginia RV's", no fender, damaged skirting & badly bent & now broken manual slide out rod. Haven't called Voma yet the tire reps, still waiting on Tracy with Crossroads to send the information?!?!?!?

Randy worked another miracle today. He & his crew, replaced my skirting, fender, & manual slide out rod for a very nominal fee today. He also took it on his own, to go over all of our RV & found some loose trim & had it repaired & replaced our leaking air mattress. Overall excellent job! Not his fault they use cheap tires!
