Antenna Wall Plate Switch

I believe my wall plate switch has gone out due to barely receiving OTA channels and cable not working. I pulled the plate and only see one coax (which was not connected so I believe it is the SAT connection which bypasses this switch. I just donít understand why the cable and antenna are not coax? Replacement wall plates from Winnguard have coax connections for everything. Can anyone help?
