So, we have the ST29QB with the entertainment center blocking the end of the queen bed, and we would like to replace the existing queen with a residential queen pillowtop. It's older, so I wouldn't mind trimming it the few inches it would take to squeeze it in (I am assuming we have a short queen since everyone seems to). But has anyone tried this? I'm not averse tocutting some coils and re-sewing the mattress cover, but would like some opinions before doing so. And we have considered memory foam instead, but man, this mattress is comfy.

Might be worth the time to find a place that manufactures these things and see how much they might charge to trim one down. I have a different model than you, but our queen VERLO mattress from the house went in just fine.

Actually, I think the CR beds are standard queens, not RV queen sized. That was one of the reasons we bought it.

i think beds that are in slide outs are full size. i put a all foam mattress (tempur purdic) in my camper. it was very easy to trim just take off the pillow case style cover and i used a straight edge and a razor knife.

I can't speak for all models, but ours is a short queen. We are looking to upgrade as well.
There are several mattress companies which sell short queen mattresses.
I Googled "short queen mattresses" (with the quotes) and came up with several pages, including a listing for Sears. In most cases they are more expensive than a standard queen.

FYI, for all who may be interested, a full size is 54" x 72", queen - 60" x 78", short queen - 60" x 75", king - 72" x 78". You may want to check with your local Industries for the blind, etc. You can have them make a short queen for the same price you would pay retail for a queen, and the quality is excellent.

memory foam on top of the existing mattress works very well. We bought a 2" from walmart (mid quality) and it is very comfy. Once it finished expanding to its full unpackaged size, it fit the bed perfectly and I have slept very well ever since I put it on the bed.

We have the same model TT as you. We put in a 4" memory foam pad and I had to cut 2 or 3 inches off the end also. It was to tight against the sliding doors. Probably a lot easier to cut the foam than what you are trying.

Ronhuntfish - I wish we had the sliding doors, we got the bedroom curtains. Our first trip is in June sometime - hopefully the mattress can be wedged in there. Otherwise, I foresee one crazed husband wielding a jigsaw.

Better late than never: Camping World has several different mattresses which come in short queen. We bought one of the less expensive ones, (with free shipping) and we love it. We fooled around with various toppers, but nothing really worked for us.
Definitely worth a look.

Measure your mattress first, they told us we would have to order a special on made to fit, in our unit the mattress was a standard queen, we now have a serta pillow top there
