Awning - Strange occurrence

This Forum is certainly a "gold-mine" of information from many veteran RV'rs, so perhaps someone can shed some light on a strange thing that happened with my electric awning.

After it rains I always extend my awning to release and dry out any trapped moisture, and today was one of those days. I pushed the rocker switch "Out" and nothing happened. The first thought that came to mind was a blown fuse, but to be sure I opened the door to listen while I pushed the "In" to see if I could hear the awning tighten. To my surprise (astonishment) the awning started to extend when I pushed the 'in' switch. I released it and pushed "out" and nothing happened. Pushed the 'in' switch again and the awning continued out so I held it there. The awning extended completely and then automatically reversed and came back in as I held the switch. Afterwards, the awning and switch worked as it should; pushed out - it rolled out. Pushed in - it rolled in. Did this 4 times and no problem. Gremlins?

If you roll it out to full extension without releasing switch it will roll itself up in reverse. Once you reverse it, it works fine again.

I thought I was the only one with this issue... and only after DW put the awning in . Starting to see a pattern.

Ya Ya. You guys talk loose now, but if the wives were to see this it might be a different story.

I'll have everyone know that I wear the pants in this family! Wife might pick them out, buy them, and suggest which ones to wear, but I wear them darnit!
