Awnings/Toppers for Slidouts?
We have not owned a camping unit that had slides without awnings or toppers what ever you choose to call them. We just purchased a Rushmore that doesn't have them and the selling dealer has offered to install them at a nice discount. BTW has anyone had them in black? It seems like the best contrasting color since the awning and window frames are black, yet white being the other option is the most reflective although there is no white on the coach anywhere.

If I was living in a warmer climate like you, I would have the white ones installed. Might not be color coordinated, but who sees much if any of the slide topper anyway? Would definitely be more heat reflective.

All depends on your experience with the slide toppers...
some love em, some hate em....
as far as color - looks like your rv is beige ?
that light a color would still be reflective enough if you decide to get them...
good luck on your decision !

We will be full-timing in this from May into October in southern MI. the topper model that we are looking at is offered in only black or white and I know that white can be plagued with black streaks.

I wouldn't worry about black streaks on the awning They wash off, just like any black streaks that develop on the side of your camper.

Would not be without them. We had the black topper installed with the black hardware before we took delivery of ours. This way it matched the awning hardware. I would have preferred black hardware with a white awning material.

Thanks so much for the replies, we chose the black vs. the white ones. They will look good and do the job as well.
We have two 5th wheel trailers that we will be living in, a Holiday Rambler Presidential Suite 36RLT in So. Ca. late October through February then to south TX or FL coast through April in a rental home, then off to southern MI where we will be living in our new Rushmore 38CK. When we flew back to CA after purchasing the Rushmore my wife an I felt a little strange leaving the new trailer with the dealer where it will be stored until a springtime delivery. It's like buying a new pair of shoes and not being able to wear them until spring. But that is why we went back to Elkhart IN. this time of the year for a bargain and we feel we got one along with the bonus was spending 10 days with our MI families for Thanksgiving.
