We purchased a 2006 PP in Oct. 2010......have used it twice with the last time being a month-long trip to Florida. I have a friend with a 2011 Heartland Big Horn and was leaving this weekend and the axle broke..very scarey....fortunately they were close to home and going slow on a two-lane road. She found out that the axles had been recalled and they've never gotten a notificaiton.
My question.....how do we ge the axles checked out....can DH do it....if he knows what to look for? Now I'm a little worried having bought a used PP...the tires look good....but what do I know?
Call the service center and give them your VIN. They should be able to help you. As far as the tires it depends what brand. If they are Chinese I would change them out.
Its amazing to me that you can't get even a Good Year Marathon not made in China. I just purchased (4) 16" Marathon radials hoping that they would be stamped "Made in USA" on the side, no such luck. Even Good Year is out-sourcing to China.
It's been posted on the forum by numerous people that they have purchased Marathons stamped, made in the USA, and I'm one of them. I got 5 last year to replace my missions.
