Is or should the battery be covered with the 2 year bumper to bumper warranty? My dealer is telling me I need to contact the battery manufacturer. If I have to replace it myself would there be any harm going with a larger cranking amp? I have 520 cranking amps now.

Hmm...good question. Typically batteries are prorated after a certain amount of time, but if you are still in your 2-year period, it might be worth a call to crossroads to see what they have to say.

Shane, most things like that the warranty will not cover but it is worth a call. Now when I had to replace ours I went from a Group 24 to a Group 27. To do that you will probably have to get a bigger battery box which I picked up at Walmart.

Even in your auto's and trucks the battery is warranty by the battery mfg. I have had two CrossRoads products, two different dealers two different brands of batteries. I think maybe the batteries are installed by the dealers rather than Crossroads

Mine is a Interstate with a production date of 8/10 so i'm hoping the local Interstate will warranty or prorate it some, i'll find out Monday when they open. It shows 11.4 volts but wont take a charge.

- Just my 2 cents, but when you drop that kinda money on an RV, the dealer should cover everything!
- If I was the dealer, replacing a battery to keep a customer happy, and possibly coming back for service/accessories would be worth every cent!

- I'd be all over theguy to replace it!
- If not, every person I know would find out just how cheap this dealer is.

- I had a tire blow out on me 2000kms away from my dealer while out on one of my 1st trips.
- I was fumin' mad, but called him, and he didn't even hesitate to call in his VISA # to the dealer whereI was getting the RV repaired so that I wasn't out of pocket.
- Going that extra distance means alot.
- I bought a 5th wheel from him less than a year later.

- Customer service is EVERYTHING!!

If I remember correctly my dealer installed Interstate battery was 36 mos. 12 month full replacement, 24 month pro rated based on the number of months. Crossroads had nothing to with the battery as it wasn't purchased from them.

When you get a new battery you want a true deep cycle battery. You want to look for the highest AmpHour rating, since you are not starting anything cold cranking amps is meaningless.

I guess if the dealer does not want your money since you are wanting to upgrade the battery I would go to a local battery outlet that handles that brand of battery to cover the warranty (if any is left) and hopefully they would just charge you the difference.

I couldn't agree more on the customer service is everything!!!!! My 2011Cruiser has been in the dealers shop for 5 weeks(warranty work)and is very disheartening to spend that amount on an rv and realize your just another sale to the dealer. The service after thesale is what will bring the customer and their friends to you in the future!!

Sking,

The battery mfg is who will support your claim. Most mfg's have a 1 year free replacement and pro-rated for the remaining life of the battery 5, 6, 7 years etc. It looks like Interstate will cover this battery as it's less than 1 year old.

Also, to Hunter 11's post, you can upgrade you battery size and amps without issue as long as the battery will fit your box. Usually the battery size is determined by the trailer mfg depending on power draw and not sure it's necessary.

I would expect that the original battery is a deep cycle as it was intended for trailer use.

The best thing you can do it keep it charged. Use a battery tender once fully charged if possible. Letting batteries sit and discharge allows for lead sulfate to develop which reduce the life dramatically. Just like a car regularly driven, you can expect years of good use if charged regularly.

I have had good luck with Interstate when exchanging batteries through my local parts store when necessary.
