My battery seems to leak while installed on my new cruiser 5th wheel. Any ideas why?

RedWing43,
I'm no mechanic, but one thing in my vehicle's I don't fool with is battery's. I give them wide berth...and respect. If your Cruiser is new, and if you cannot take it back, call your dealer and have them bring you a new one. Crossroads can't help with this as it is a device added after delivery to dealer. If at all possible let them inspect it and make sure there are absolutely no other problems besides the battery. JMHO.

Travel well,
Jim

I have often wondered why the factory doesn't have to install the battery. Since the emergency break-away switch can't lock the brakes without the battery. Isn't it a DOT requirement that the emergency break-away feature be viable when towing the trailer?

In my experiences with batteries there are a few reasons a battery may expel gas/fume vapors (I assume you notice moisture at the top around the caps - not around the sides).
Overcharging due to incorrect output voltage at the converter - need to have you dealer look into adjusting output voltage.

Bad/defective cell in the battery - you can take the battery to any tire store and have them check the battery.

Too much electrolyte/acid in the battery - the acid level should be just high enough to make "ring" at the bottom of the fill hole.

If the battery wasn't charged it could have froze and cracked

Can you determine where it is leaking from?

The battery was checked at the local parts store and it checked out fine, no cracks, and appears to be seeping from the top cap. Ithink it may be overcharging is there a way to adjust that myself as the dealer is some distance away?
