Battery connections

I have a 2017 Sunset Trail Grand Reserve 26SI. I disconnected the battery to prevent draw down by the back up camera.
When I went to reconnect the battery I could not remember where one of the cables went.

I know the Red is + and the Black is -.

There is a smaller gauge wire that is half black and half white. I think it was on the positive terminal of the battery, but it is long enough to reach the negative terminal. I called the dealer, which is 2 hours away, and they said it is most likely a line for the brake controller and should be connected to the positive terminal, but could not be sure with out seeing where it goes to.

I did check continuity to ground and there is no continuity there.

Just want to make sure that it is connected correctly.

I don’t have an answer about the smaller wire, but wanted to comment on the other two. If you are sure of the black being negative and red positive, that is fine. But be aware that some RV batteries are the opposite. Some owners have reconnected them like a car battery and have blown fuses. My previous Crossroads was opposite, but my current Grand Design is Black negative and red positive.

Thanks

Steve,

Yep, the dealer told me that too. there is a decal on the frame that tells you that red is + and black is -. So that part was easy.

follow the small wire and see where it goes...maybe tongue jack? or break away cable?

For all new rv's I suggest taking a picture with your cell phone of the battery hookup. Then you a picture for future reference.

All of my connections to the battery are ring type.

After I remove the ones on the positive I run a cable tie through the rings.

I do the same for the connections on the negative.
