A pretty old post but interested in other's ideas.

Here's another we can't go without...or should I say my wife can't go without.

Easy to use, fold up, and clean. Helps keep the dirt out of the trailer and easy to walk on. We have two to run along the trailer for both doors.

I find mats like that, with a loose weave, do not hold up well over time. We use one with a much tighter weave (similar to the screening material).

I guess I'm more of a scrooge.
I picked up a piece of indoor/outdoor carpet to lay down outside the door.
Cheaper, rolls up easier, and if it gets dirty, I take the garden hose and wash it off and hang up to dry.

A lot of campgrounds will not let you use a carpet unless it is a loose weave. A few I was at banned indoor outdoor carpet altogether.

Yes, I can understand them doing that. I would imagine it's a grass killer just like a tent.

The places we go aren't that strict.

We have not come across that. We tend not to use our grass mat when we are traveling. We use it more while we are in Florida or at a campground that has dirt on the ground. When we travel we tend to stay at KOAs which usually have gravel lots.

We have a little gadget that my dad (who was an industrial engineer) made for us to start fires. It is a regulator from an old campstove that screws into a small bottle of propane. It doesn't matter how wet the wood is, it will start a fire. My dad made several of them for all of us kids. He passed away a few years ago and we always think of him when we use our handy little firestarter. People will stop and ask about it when they see us using it at the campground. I'm at work now, but if anyone would like to see a photo, I'll take a picture and share.

Whether we're towing the trailer or not, we never leave home without this. Jump start, air compressor, light, 120vac source (400 watt), 12V source, and USB. http://www.amazon.com/Stanley-PPRH5-...+power+station

I have to agree. These starter batteries come in pretty handy, however, most of the time, it's for someone else.
Better that then using my truck to jump start others and worry about frying an alternator diode.
Great for air and portable lighting also.
