there are a number of chemicals available at walmart that will break down the waste. there is also a "geo Method"you can google. the chemicals say they are biodegradable so I go with them.

Keep the valve closed so there is pressure of a full tank to move everything out when you do dump it. If you leave it open, the liquids will move out leaving the solids behind. You will develop what some forums call a "poo pyramid" in the black tank.

Not only that, but the dumping hose is not smooth and stuff will accumulate in there, making the hole smaller and smaller until it eventually backs up. If you are camping long term, figure out how many days you can go without dumping the grey and then schedule it accordingly. We can go three to four days using water indiscriminately, so I dump every three days. This is when we winter in Florida.

Keep the valve closed until it starts getting full and use the Geo Method. Have done this for many years and never have any issues.

+1 on the Geo method.
Also, drain the black first, then use the gray to flush out the hose.

We are seasonal. Leave black closed until full. We leave grey open.

I've used Geo method (basically Calgon and detergent) and it works well. Lately I have been using the 6-pack/8-oz. bottles of Aqua-Kem. I use one bottle (40-gal tank) and empty about every 3 weeks. Aqua Kem works well, too.

Leave black closed till full or ready to leave. You can leave grey open, but I choose to close it as well so I have plenty of grey to use to flush hose well after dumping black.

Thank you for your assist. Another camper gave us a solid 3" pipe to use rather than the crinkle pipe as stuff does not get caught in the crinkle folds but it leaks at the junction. Should we use use the crinkle hose rather than the pipe on the black water line. Thank you again. PEace, Christa

Nobody likes a leaky sewer hose! Use the "crinkle". I have a Rhino. Nothing will be caught in it if you have sufficient grey water to flush with after dumping your black.
