I have just purchased a new Crossroads Cruiser. I have noticed that on my way home from the dealer a slight porposie effect on some roads. Would the installation of airbags/shocks on my pickup help to alleviate this problem?

5th wheel or bumber pull? The following assumes a 5th wheel. But the same is true for bumber pulls. I would go with a little less hitch weight than pin weight.

First I would check the pin weight. A tail heavy trailer will do what you describe. If your truck can handle it go for 25% pin weight. Also check if the traileris towinglevel. A nose high trailer will also do what you describe. A bumber pull usually does best with a little nose low.
