The brakes on my fiver are not stopping like they used to do, so have made an appointment to go to a dealer to have them look at it. I feel they need an adjustment, I have never had this done since I got the trailer. So can someone help me with this before I go so I know what they are talking about when we get there. Sort of an idea of how much this is likely to cost. I am afraid they are going to tell me I need a whole brake job that will cost a fortune. I understand I have self ajusting brakes, now do they adjust themselves. Thanks for any help we can get

Do we have a year and model camper. Self adjusting brakes came in around 2008 but not on all models. If your camper is over 2 years old brakes should betaken apart, bearing cleaned and greaced. All brakes should be cleaned and inspected.

I have a 05 PP and it has electric brakes. I do not think they can be adjusted as the electric magnets grab and apply the brakes. I have had mine apart to pack the bearings and did not see any adjustment.

Have you adjusted the controller? It may have changed.

I inspect the brakes and bearings every spring before the first trip out. I usually do not pull the rear seal unless there has been grease leakage out the back.

GaPete - great link!
Good for those who have not inspected bearings/brakes before. I purchased a socket to fit the nut so I could torque the nut during re-installation as recommended by the manuf.
