Bumper grill / bike rack

I'm interested in installing a bike rack.

My 2018 Sunset Trail 28BH came with a rear bumper mounted grill (photo attached). The grill has a ~4cm vertically aligned hitch receiver. I can't find a bike rack to fit it because (1) they are either 1.25inch ~ 3cm or 2inch ~ 5cm, and (2), bike racks attach to horizontal hitch receivers, whereas mine is a pointing up when the bike rack is dropped down.

If the rear bumper grill isn't really useful for bike racks I may just take it off and install a bumper mounted bike rack. I'm just not sure what the grill is for - there must have been a reason by the factory to install it. Any idea what it's for?

Thanks!

I would love to have that rack for my grille and generator. I can't imagine that you wouldn't find a use for it.
If it were me, I'd find a welder to weld the mount you need to that rack.

Agreed, I'd love to have one on my TT.

It's a fold down cargo rack, for hauling what ever you need: bikes, generator totes, coolers, etc. The 'receiver hitch' on the rack is not to be used like a hitch - it's actually for a vertical bar to be used to secure your cargo.

Find some bike rack brackets that will bolt down to the cargo rack and use a verticle bar to secure them. Google it. Very simple and secure.

Thurst

I have an older model 5th wheel that I had a welder fabricate a rear cargo rack with a fold down gate and mount for me. Very convenient and clears up the bed of the truck. Also, wanted to add that most tube type bumpers are where the sewer hose is stored. Never be ashamed to ask questions. This forum has some great information.

Thank you for the idea. I rigged something simple.
Is this what you had in mind?
