Can I get on my roof?

Picking up our TT Sat morning, and will ask the dealer, but thought I'd see what this community has to say...

We are getting a 2015 Sunset Trail 240BH. It does not have a ladder, so I'm wondering if it is OK to get on the roof? Not to hang out in a chair with a cold one, but in case there are any maintenance or cleaning issues. Can I get up there if need be?

Thanks!

The roof is only 3/16 luan plywood , so only step on 16" centers where the rafters are . put a piece of 1/4 or 3/8 plywood down first to spread out weight.

I'd love to get on mine. Be easier to clean and to pop the cover on the AC to clean the coils.

Was told to stay off and I will, to avoid any warranty issues. At 260 lbs I'd mess that roof up with a wrong step.

I get up on mine all the time, plz don't share this, but I weigh 240.
Like Harley said, just stay on the rafters or use plywood. I keep a couple of 3'x3' pieces of 1/2 plywood in the fold up bunks.
Hardest part is getting on and off the ladder.

I din't realize how different roofs can be from model to model, or even model years. My buddy has the same trailer as me, only one model year earlier. Last weekend I was helping him with roof maintenance. He has no ladder mounted, so I was on a side ladder. I pressed down with my hand and felt the roof flex. I was surprised because I walk on mine and it is very solid. Mine also has a ladder, so the plywood must be much thicker.

Why would they make such a flimsy roof, in some parts of the country they could get a ton of snow built up & it doesn't know to stay on the joists.

Do you guys have flat roofs? Mine is sloped side to side. The guys at my dealer are all under 200 pounds. I figure that why THEY Can be up there.

I think one reason for the thin ply on the roof is that is is hard to curve thicked plywood or mdf to form to the curved roof. They have a hard time keeping the staples in as it is , can you imagine the assembliers trying to put a ton of staples to stop the thick ply from coming up on the sides....

Can I get on my roof?

If you can't get up there, how does the manufacturer expect one to be able to properly look at and maintain the roof?

Also, any feedback on the roof tape?

if you havent figured the manufactures yet ...they could not less about how we can get on the roof to maintain it....they use he thinnest luan wood so it can curve to the roof line and keep weight down.
If you go on the roof put some plywood down to disribute your weight .

Trust me I know......I've been "discussing" not only the crap product but the crap customer service Crossroads puts out!! I would NEVER purchase anything from them again....anyone considering a Crossroads needs to run away like they are the plague!!!

Thanks for all the advice, I will use some small sheets of plywood and maybe the father-in-law......he weighs a lot less than I

Love to know how your inspecting and/or working on your roof!

I recently purchased a 2016 Sunset Trail 32BH (upgraded from 2013 300BH) and just treating the new roof was a task. How the heck do you reach the center???

Mine is s 2010 Zinger and has a ladder, which makes it easier getting up to work on things, but the first step is about 3 feet off the ground over the rear bumper! Had to get a step ladder to reach it.
