Caulking

Is it okay to use silicone caulk on the exterior of our Crossroads Cruiser? If not, what is the best type to use?

Do you apply it just like any caulk? Do you need to do anything special to put it on correctly?

I do my own caulking. I'll wipe it down with mineral spirits and wet my finger to spread it out. It's kinda messy, just make sure you have a wet old towel to clean your finger off. You could also use painters tape to place above where you want to caulk to give you a straight line.

Thanks for the tip. We have talked to various folks who have made suggestions about what type of caulk to use and what product to use to "smear" it. Even the type of caulk does not seem to be clear cut. Just want to make the best decision of what to use on our "home away from home."

I use this stuff. I bought my myself a set of plastic caulking tools. One removes old caulk--its not as good as a metal one, but less abrasive. The other is for tooling the fresh caulk. You can use your finger, and sometimes I do. I wear gloves. And like its been stated above, you can do it on your own, but definitely clean the area first.

I use the white GE Silicon on the sides and Dicor self leveling lap sealant on the roof. My wife does all the caulking on the sides and I take care of the roof. I also put a piece of 4" Eternabond tape over the seams from side to side where thefrontand rear caps meet the rubber roof. Now I don't have to worry about caulking those anymore.
