It is now 9:33PM and the temps have dropped to -2 supposed to go to -5

overnight. I have taken the following precautions in my camper. Left

the cabinet doors open and left the furnace on set to kick in when the

temps hit 7 degrees. I have also left my hot water heater on. I have

unhooked the city water connection. I also opened the low point drains

and let it drain out as much as it would. We camped this weekend out at

our seasonal site and I hate when after a week of really nice weather

we get a night like this. I get paranoid every time this takes place.

My city water connections are inside the basement storage area. Do you

think the plumbing will survive the night without problems? We are back

in our stick house for the evening as our seasonal is only 12km away.

Sounds like about the same temps here overnight. You should be alright as long as you shut off you water connection and left the hose disconnected at that end. It will prevent your hose frome freezing and possibly cracking. Everything inside should be fine if you've left the heat on.

I have this issue in the fall. I generally don't worry too much without heat as long as the day time temps are above freezing and the temperature doesn't get below 20F (about -7C). It is the prolonged cold temps that are the issue.

The biggest concern is the city water connection, which you disconnected. You went further than I do by both draining lines at the low point drains and leaving the heat on. The last two I generally don't bother with unless the daytime temps are below freezing and/or the night time temps drop below 20F/-7C. You'll be fine!

You left the hot water on but opened the low point drains. You do realize you drained the hot water tank but left it on.

There was no pressure on the system at all so no I did not drain the hot water tank.

So how did your unit weather the night. You did more than us we stayed and camped in that weather all we did was run our water from the tank.
