Cold weather camping precautions

Looks like the next 3 or 4 nights are going to get below freezing by a few degrees. Tonight I plan to disconnect the water hose so it doesn't freeze and also leave the hot water heater on. Anything else I should do?

I thought about putting water in the fresh water tank and use the pump for essentials like toilet flushing. Not sure if the water would freeze in the tank or not. I think it is forecast down to 28 tonight.

If you are in the camper and have the furnace running, I think you will be OK.
You might want to open all the cupboard doors so heat and air movement is there.
Other then that, stay cozy.

By the way--if you plan to leave the water heater on, you better remember to not use any from it or you might end up burning the element up. If it was me I would turn it off.

Also, don't forget to leave the bathroom door open and the cabinet under the sink also. The furnace will keep the underbelly cozy so you will be okay.

PS: Bring that hose inside if you want to use it tomorrow.

Electric blanket or electric mattress pad would help, I know my wife would have one.

Thanks all. I had disconnected the water hose and drained the water out, so it was fine. We were warm enough in the trailer. According to my thermometer it was 31 when I got up, and still is. Tomorrow night forecast to 25, but it is 28 in town so seems it is about 3 degrees warmer here. I would have thought it might be colder in the campground. It is a minor inconvenience worrying about the outside water hose though. We've never had to deal with below freezing temps here at this time of year, so I guess we have been lucky in the past.

When we camp in cold weather, we rarely use the furnace, but use electric heaters instead. So, there is no heat to the basement and tanks except for radiated heat thru the floor. I keep the fresh water tank full and use that for our water needs until temps again rise above freezing. The tank shouldn't freeze overnight due to the mass of the water. What should freeze first is the 1/2 inch plastic pickup tube for the 12V pump. We have stayed in temps in the low 20's and never had a problem. You should be fine especially if you are running the furnace, if the pickup tube doesn't freeze, then none of the other water lines should freeze since they are better protected.
