Converter Fan

Converter fan runs almost continuously while hooked to shore power. Is that normal? Just got our 2014 model home, and if more than a couple of lights are on the fan is running all the time...

If I remember, all the lights run on 12 volt DC. So the converter is changing the 110 volt AC to 12 volt DC.

Yep, the converter will kick it up a notch when you turn on more load. When I switched all my lights to LED, it helped keep my converter quiet.

Thanks everyone, wasn't sure if that was normal but it sounds like it is. Just didn't want the battery to burn out...

Just got my 2015 270BH Saturday and have noticed the same. Was wondering if that was normal too.

Great Post and Great Comments around the LED's. I too switched to LED's about 3 weeks ago and am still amazed that I don't hear the fan anymore. Ranks in the Top 3 Mods that I have completed in MHO.

Mine too. Depends on how many lights and which ones. Plan to switch to LEDs in the near future. Watching LED thread to get a consensus on which ones to get.

These were the ones that another member recommended for LED lights and I ordered the same ones.

I am wondering about these LED lights, do they get hotter then the standard bulbs? I thought I have heard of some light lenses melting due to the high heat they put off.

CW3Jason, how long have you used the LED lights you mentioned? Any problems? Still working OK? Do you like the warm white light and is it bright enough? We'd like to change out the lights over the recliners for reading so want something with enough light but not a fluorescent look to them.

LEDs run much cooler than standard bulbs.nthat is how they save energy. With standard incandescent lamps something like 80% of the electric energy is converted into heat and the balance into light. LEDs flip that equation around and turn more energy into light than heat.

I too bought mine off eBay basd on a recommendation on this site. Search for SMD LED lights here and you should find the thread.

They work great. My only issue is that my new lamps (bulbs) project some spots onto the beds and other surfaces that the inca descents didn't. I think it is a combination of the stock diffuser and the lamp, but it isn't a big deal.

Just installed last month. so far I like them very much. i'm sure the 5050s that were also posted would be very good as well and maybe alittle brighter than the ones I installed.

The warm light is alittle whiter than the 921 bulbs, but a close match. brightness is also close to the 921 bulb. I actually like the light from the LEDs better, looks more like natural sunlight, so they appear brighter and everything in the trailer is brighter.

Best part of the upgrade, the converter fan does not run even with all the lights on
