Crossroads factory repair center

Anyone know if Crossroads is still working on warranty repairs at that huge repair center they put up a few years ago?

I need my front cap painted (yes, only a year old) and 1) I'd rather have the factory pull the cap and reinstall it and 2) Crossroads factory is an hour closer to my house than my dealer.

Go to an auto body shop to have it painted as I'm fairly certain that the CR center doesn't do the painting, it's farmed out to an independent shop.

I don't care who actually paints the cap. I do however want it reinstalled correctly.

I would venture a guess that those repairs even under warranty weren't being done with cap removal only taping/masking off the cap then paint work.

I highly doubt the removal of cap...mine was masked and taped and trailer plastic covered then cap painted . Your car or truck is not taken apart for a fender paint job.

Must be the way that repair center handles it. I talked with a guy while on a trip in NJ who had that repair done on a brown cap and took a close look at it. It was visible upon a close look it was taped and masked.

If it was me...and there were no issues with leaks to the cap I would prefer to go the tape/mask method so as to not disturb good seals.

After the paint work, a new layer of sealant will easily cover most paint lines especially on the top.

He said "THE CAP WILL BE REMOVED!!!" I know several that have had the front & rear caps painted & his will be the 1st to remove either cap to get painted. Hope it all goes well.

I think we understand what he said! We both are offering experiences which are alternatives to his concerns of the cap not being re-installed properly. Simple enough and not saying either is right or wrong.

update

So after sitting on hold with Thor..ahem..I mean Crossroads customer service for over an hour, I finally got through to an agent and Crossroads service center is now defunct since their acquisition by Thor.

So, that said, if they don't service trailers anymore, and no longer send out parts like the good ole days in 2011, the question I have is what the heck use is customer service other than to direct me to the nearest dealership??? Heck, Siri on my phone can do that in about 10 seconds without calling anyone.

And I also called back my dealer and talked to the service manager. I told him Travellin Texan said removing the cap seemed..unorthodox and they don't know what the heck their doin'.... He said the previous person I spoke with at their service desk was mostly wrong. Depending on the unit, they always try to strip, tape and paint first unless they run into issues.

The good news is he claims they still can get the decals so I don't have one of those painted "naked" caps I see from time to time.

There you have it.

All is now right with the world. Except my trailer cap.

Which will be fixed hopefully in time for my next trip.

On another note, I seems that they are now spraying a paint sealer on the new Crossroads exterior.

Heck they don't even assist with finding a dealership. The less than friendly person I spoke with at Crossroads told me to go online and look up a servicing dealer. Didn't even have the courtesy to assist with locating one due to my dealers backlog...in the end I do like always and fix it myself better than my trailer sitting on a dealer's lot for weeks on end continuing to leak.
