Day Night Shades

Good Morning Everyone. What is the easiest way to remove the day night shade. I am going to replace the one on my large living area window?
I have not removed the valance yet but it appears that is is just screwed in by 4 screws, but I can not see how the top of the blind is attached to the wall.

Mike, let me email Beverly and see if she can answer your question. I think she pulled the one off the larger window in the door side slide to measure because she wants to put a wood blind on that window.

Mike, she said you just remove the screws holding the valence on and then it is easy to remove the shade. You will have to remove the two plastic pieces at the bottom that the strings are tied to.

Yes I did retire. I am glad I did, they had a layoff of about 200 last week and 200 about 2 weeks before I retired. I am sure I would have been in the last group.

Can you ask Beverly how she re attached the valance after she changed out the blinds. I do not have enough room to get my drill between the top of the new blinds and the valance. I am thinking velcro?

Did you have any hail damage?

Mike, no hail damage. My boss asked me last week if I would stay 5 more years. I told him all I could give him is month to month.

She has not figured out how she is going to put the valance back if she does it at all. Velcro might work if you use enough of it.

The valance is attached at the top with right angle brackets and they are reinstalled to the wall first, then the valance sits on top of the bracket and attached with a vertical screw. The wood is soft enough there is no need to pre drill for this screw.

Larry.... the valance on my 06 was held up by 3 screws attached to the bottom of the cabinets. I was going to put it back up to cover the top of the new blinds, but it is a tight fit.

One of mine was also attached under a cabinet. If the new blinds don't leave a gap large enough for the valance to fit between them and the bottom of the cabinet, you may have to trim the valance. Leave the sides of the valance as is, i.e. full depth. But cut the top of the valance for clearance around blind track. Remove the staples holding the fabric, cut the thin wood, reattach the fabric and then attach the valance to the cabinet. A jig saw will work for cutting the wood, or better yet, one of those oscillating multi-function tools from Harbor Freight.

Thanks Larry, there is enough room to re mount the valance just not enough room to get a screw gun between the valance and the top of the blinds to screw into the bottom of the cabinet.

You can't run a screw vertically thru the top of the valance and into the bottom of the cabinet?
