Direct tv
I just got hooked up with Direct to take with us in the RV. Do I need to order a receiver for the RV or take one out of the house? The guy at direct said I could stream it from my phone but I don't know. Has anyone tried this? Thanks Billy

Welcome to the forum. You can take one of the receivers from the house. We used to have one in the rv. Finally got tired of paying the extra fee so started taking a unit from the house. Haven't had any problems by doing this.

Not to hijack your thread but what do you guys think of Direct? I have always heard bad reviews as far pulling channels frequently watched in order to get you to increase your package level etc. I have had Dish for years with just basic around $69 a month. Have thought about switching to get lower rate.

I got the stripped down version with 4 receivers for 45 a month plus tax for the first year. Then it goes to 73.99 the second year of the 2 year agreement. So the jury is still out here. I just need something in the travel trailer. No Tv stations in our area which sucks!

I have dish but we take the receiver out or the house. Guess you can do the same with direct. The only thing I would add is that you will need to spot all the sats needed for the receiver you take.

We have DTV and LOVE it. Also, we took a receiver from the house, and it actually stays in the camper now.
For all you DirecTV guys - don't forget to call and whine every so often. I get decent discounts simply by spending 15 min. on the phone and stating it is too much. Currently, I get $15/mo in promos.

I've had DirectV since 2000 and we love it. It seems, however, that the dishes available for DirectV HD is limited to one antenna, and that is the one that mounts on top of RV. Does anyone know of another dish for use in RV that will receive HD for DirectV??

Yes, that one will receive std definition directv...
but you can also have HD with the swm antenna on a pedestal you mount and aim outside...
I have it and the tripod in the garage, but never used it enough to warrant carrying it around, I use the roof top one all the time... very rare that I can't get a signal.

We had Direct TV and I used the receiver from the house a long with View Qube it was a quick and easy set up. DW went and change to Dish, and I had to buy a seperate receiver just for the RV and I have the tailgater now another easy set up.

Just rec'd a flyer from CW. They are having a "mega electronic" sale. Several Sat antennas for Direct tv. Ironically they seem to be anywhere from a 1 to several hundred more than the Dish? Don't know why but if in the market worth a look.
