Ok, we have a problem. We here in NY have been going through

a minor heat wave; the last few days have been over the 90 degree point. That

being said, we have notice that for the last few days that the milk in our

fridge has been going sour very fast. Yesterday I bought a refrigerator

thermometer and found out this morning that the fridge is only about 48 to 50

degrees. I have the slide control all the way up to thecoldest setting.

Do you folks out there think that we have a problem or do you think it is

coming from the fact that the heat and humidly has been so high? The trailer is off warranty, but I do have an extended warranty through the Good Sam Club, but never had to use it.

Any suggestions?

Thank you all.

If the fridge was working fine until the heat wave, I would suggest that it is the heat and not the fridge. Is the freezer OK? I have a fan that blows air over the cooling fins but not all models have that. Limit the door openings and consider using a cooler with ice for the time being if that is convenient. If the outside temps are cooler at night check the fridge temp in the morning. If it is normal then the fridge is OK and it is just the daytime high temperatures limiting the cooling efficiency.

In answer to Stan's question, The freezer is fine. Just the fridge. I did notice the temp this morning, thought that I should allow the thermometer to get use to the temp first.

The hot weather will definitely affect the coolingof the refrigerator. You learn this real fast when camping in the Texas heat.We have found that the small "blue ice" packs that you can buyalmost anywhere really help on hot days. Just pop them into the freezer until frozen and then place them around the fridge and repeat when the process when they thaw out. Or buy extras and have some in the freezer to swap out when the ones in the fridge thaw out. Wealso have a small fan that we purchased from Camping World that circulates air within the refrigerator. These two things do work and will help keep the fridge in the safe zone. I also mounted a fan in the outside compartment that blows air over the coils to help keep them cooler during hot weather.

From my experience I'm going to say the fridge is not working properly. I live in my trailer in South East Utah where it gets over 100 a lot. My fridge will maintain mid to upper 30s on the hottest days. I have no circulating fans on the outside tubes or inside. It doesn't get above 40 unless I'm opening it a lot. The one time I tested the freezer it showed 0. I have been quite impressed. I didn't expect it to do this well in the summer heat. I also lived in the trailer in GA for part of one winter/summer and it would get into the 90s there with high humidity and it did fine there as well.
