Just returned from a weekend outing with our 2012ST 30REand things went well... till we got home and backed in thedrive.
When I tried to unhook, the electric jack didn"t work. Oh Oh. Dead battery?? No, changed to the fully charged spare and still no jack. Plugged in to home power, nothing! No lights, no refrigerator, no nothing. Everything is dead. Checked the fuse box, and nothing is tripped. Anyone have any suggestions before I call for service? Could it be a bad inverter? Loose wire? I'm stumped!

Seems to me that issue was discussed awhile back and what I remember was to trace the hot wire back from your jack and there is an inline fuse.

Mine died too. Checked the fuse and was O.K. Then cleaned the terminals and connectors with a small wire brush and coated with Vasoline. Problem solved.

Chz Hed,
The one thing that worries me the most about my unit is exactly what you are going through, a total lack of electrical connectivity. I have yet to purchase the electrical testing equipment necessary and I admit to not being very savvy when it comes to Hertz and Ohms.I definitely want to learn more so that if anything like this happens I too can diagnose and fix the problem. Please keep us posted on your outcome whatever route you take.
Thanks,
Jim

The situation I mentioned above happened when I was plugged in too. My jack gets its power from the positive terminal of the battery but thenegative wire from the trailer to the battery must be connected too. Learned this the hard way.I had some corrosion starting at the connections to the battery probably caused by two weeks spent in the salty breezes of the Texas gulf. Removing that, as I said, solved my problem. That's everything I know about power tongue jacks.

Did you have someone "help" and hit the kill switch for the entire trailer?

There is a possibilityyou may have a faulty or failed converter, not inverter.
Suggest checking the condition of your battery at the battery. If it's up to charge your problem is down stream of the battery. Next, check your DC fuse plugs.

On the front of TTs were the A-frame conects to the main frame there is a small junction box externaly on passenger side. Make sure all conections are clean other wise might be the converter.

One thing that I noticed on our 5vr was that the negative ground from the battery had very poorly made compressionlugs on it. At the end where the lug, connectedto the frame, was loose and could be pulled out. This appears to be a simple fault so before going to the Nth degree of investigation, check all your wire connections. Give each a little tug to see if they are secure. This is especially important for ground wires, because they tend be exposed to the elements and can corrode and fall off.

Brought the TT in to the dealer this am. The Service Mgr hooked up the battery and connected to power, and wouldn't ya know...everything worked fine! He tested all power circuits, checked all fuses, and everthing was fine. I no sooner got home, backed into drive, and guess what? Nothing again. No battery power or powerthrough the 30 amp plug. Called Service Mgr back immediately and he's makeng a service call here this evening after work. I don't want to bring it back (50 mile round trip) as I would like him to see whats happening here while it's not working. I'llkeep you all up to date when I know more. Thanks for all your suggestions.

Sounds like an intermittent connection somewhere. Those things are a real pain to locate and diagnose. The best bet is to have the service tech come and work on it while it is acting up.

Gary,
We had a similar incident with our 30SK. I had packed too much stuff in the basement and stressed one of the main wires to where it pulled out of the terminal. It wasintermittentfor a while and then completely came out.
I hope your problem will be as simple, although frustrating.

Brought the TT back in to dealer this am. Service Mgr found a short in the power line from the battery to the converter. They removed the bottom covering and found the cord was rubbing against the frame at the in point to the converter, causing a dead short. Problem is fixed and a big thanks to Ted, the Service Mgr at "Wagners RV"who took it upon himself to come out to our home after work last night, to trace the problem. He notified CR of the problem. Thanks Ted!
