Electric stabilizer jacks-fully extended or on blocks?

I have power stabilizer jacks on my trailer, just wondering if they should run all the way to the ground or be "built up" with wood blocks underneath to keep them less extended?

My old popup has the crank down legs, and if they were extended more than about 45° they were basically useless...

I have tried building it up, but the site was pretty uneven and the ground was wet, so not a good test.

I prefer to not have to extend the stabilizer jacks any further then necessary.
I carry 4 packs of these. I use them on the front also.

I carry two sets of the blocks Lloyd suggested and 4 - 4x4s about 12" long for just that purpose. Just last weekend to get the truck out of the road i had to back past the end of the pad. The ground dropped off so much the jacks would not reach the ground without the blocks. I have the scissors type jacks but the same would apply to the other type.

I run them down to pieces of Trex decking. On my stabilizers the last 10" they land on is pretty much the same place.

Before we installed the Ultra Fab Stabilizers I would place 6"+ of block under the landing gear and stabilizers in hopes of achieving more stability. But then I had another camper stop by and warn me that his RV slipped from blocks and that shock caused severely damage to his landing gear.
How could that happen?
We have been hit by wind on I-90 and push the RV sideways 3 feet.
At our RV dealership they have had wind slide RV's across their lawn.
We have overly socialized Buffalo and Elk in Yellowstone that owned our site before we arrived; one year we installed a section of buck-rail fence to redirect those critters.

Wow those are two nice trophies. Can I get a license to hunt there? They make up a years worth of protein for the cost of a license and two rounds!

The park rangers frown on shooting of those critters although THEY get to shoot Grizzly Bears with rubber bullets. Those bears need to be hazed away from the public areas but sometimes they high-tail it through the employee camp on their way to safer territory. That wooden stake in the Grizzly photo is just 30' behind our RV. It's not a six legged bear but a sow and cub. I saw her trotting off as I stepped out of the RV to walk the dog. A few seconds earlier might have been very bad for the dog and myself.
