Exhaust hood outside Vent flapper

Ours broke off at the top. Joyce cut a piece of duct tape the length of the flapper and reattached. Tape now works as a hinge and the swivel locks still work fine. Can't see the tape unless you're under the flapper looking up. Been working fine for three years now. If it comes loose I'll get some white duct tape. On second thought, maybe I'll get some white anyway and tape over the silver?
