Anyone lost or broken theirs exhaust vent flapper lately besides me? Forgot to lock it down but I'm sure it's not the first time but will hopefully be the last for a while. I can't find just the flapper so guess I will buy the unit and take the flapper out. Are there any ideas other than that? Thanks

If you don't have one and don't cover up the hole, you could get wasp and even birds into the exhaust hood.Don't want either in my camper.

Good question...the minnesota roads took a toll on mine as well and it was locked down, and fell out when I opened the vent. I put back in place and re-locked and just left it be for now. I plan to wait until I get to the factory rally and visit one of those wholesalers just over the boarder in michigan for a replacement.

The tips that hold the flaps broke off on my old trailer. I ended up running a piece of wire through the top of it. It worked for several years until I sold the trailer.

No problems here with the flap, just tired of the cover turning yellow.
[rant following]--My refridgerator vent cover doesn't yellow. Why can't they use the same plastic for the vent cover (and door window frame!)? [rant ending]
they need one of these emoticonssmiley thingswith smoke blowing out its ears...
Anyone know of a vent cover that doesn't yellow?"Edited by: shoetravel

NOPE! I had the same problem and the only way to repair it is to take out the old vent cover and install a new one. It'll be the cheapest and easiest way to do it.

- Any ideas on what happens if you fire up the oven, and don't open the flap??
- I've never used my stove, and plan on firing it up this weekend.
- Totally forgot about the vent.

It helps get rid of excess heat, plus "fumes" from the burning LP.

I had the same problem with the tips breaking off and I epoxied a piece of stainless steel rod from an old CB antenna to the flap and it never broke again.

These things are a PITA to lock and unlock. Get a stool out, unlock etc. Forget to lock it and no flap. Been considering a fine mesh metal screen. No wasps, no birds... Thoughts?
Considered attaching a wire to the flap routing it inside so I can open / close the flap as needed.

Patrick:
All you need to do is go to Lowe's or Home Depot and pick up a can of white paint for plastic. Then tape off the cover, paint and it is good as new and won't turn yellow again. I painted the one on our '05 29RK several years ago and it wasn't discolored when I sold it 3 months ago.
