Extended service contract

Didn't want to highjack the other thread. I know lots of folks don't think the service contracts are worthwhile, but I'm one that does.

We purchased the five year plan from Route 66 when we bought the Rushmore for $1850. $66 deductible at dealer, $100 if independent service company. Last month a new AC for over $1000. Today, a new cooling unit in the Norcold fridge at over $2000. Also had a new door and flap a few months ago. Several hundred there.

I think it has paid for itself!

its talk like that which makes me think we SHOULD get one. Interesting how I see there are 4 populations that you hear from in different levels.

I have and used it to X $s to come out ahead
I have and didn't use it to break even
I don't have and paid out the rear for repairs
I don't have and have never had 1 repair

This is our second unit with extended service contract. We have used both extensively. With the poor craftsmanship we see in the rv industry, I wouldn't be without one.

X2. We ar on our 3rd trailer and bought warranties all three times. Each paid for itself within two years and our last one we got a rebate since we were in the 7 years so thumbs up on the warranty. I do not buy extended warranties on anything else we buy.

My one year warranty runs out next month, so I just purchased an extended service plan from Good Sam. Reviews were good and it seems to cover major components. Price was right, about $150 a year for three years. Can pay as you go and cancel anytime. Deductibles are $100-500, your choice. It will change price depending on which one you get. I got the $100 deductible. You can use any mechanic you choose, even a mobile one if needed.

$150 a YEAR for ESP ? You got a DEAL
(maybe you meant roadside assistance where they just find you a name with a google search and that's all!?!?)

I have had terrible service from Good Sam on both their roadside AND esp...

No Good Sam here either. They would only tow my truck to there approved service center, although GM dealer was just up the street. Tow driver took it to dealer for me.

No, I got the Extended Service Plan. Because I bought the trailer at Camping World, I also have the roadside assistance you're talking about for another year free. Don't know if I will continue with that when it runs out. But the Extended Service Plan should be good, as the price is right and I really don't want any large out of pocket expenses.
