Well after much thought I finally bit the bullet and purchased the 50A Portable Surge Guard Protector Model 34750 with LCD Display. Also purchased the Lock Hasp to hopefully keep someone from walking away with it. I guess I've took my chances long enough and now I can have some peace of mind.

We have a 30 amp Surge Guard with the locking hasp. Never had an incident with it as far as I know. I would not plug in for five minutes without the Surge Guard in place. If and when we buy a MHwe willbuy a 50 amp model.
Remember, when you plug in at a campground the Surge Guard takes about two minutes to let the power flow to the coach.

Had a 30SK waited 2 years before I bought the 30 amp protector. This past September bought a 305SK patriot, and made sure I bought the surge protector before the first trip which was in October. Would not be without one.

We also bought the Progressive 50 amp protector.we were at a campground on Lake Ontario for a week and noticed the new toaster we had bought was very slow and were ready to take it back.I noticed the voltage looked low and by the time I went out to read it the protector had already shut the power down.We were at the end of the line and when it was safe our power was restored .Definitlyworks and wouldn't be without it.

Everyone:
I have a Crusier 28RKX, a towable 30AMP model. I will seriously be thinking of upgrading to a 5th wheel and 50AMP in a year or so. My question is can I but a 50AMP model now, such as Papa-T did, and use it with my current 30AMP setup. To spend this much money I don't want to have to buy two...thanks everyone.

I do not see any reason you can not buy a 50 amp now and move it to the new trailer. I have a 50 amp power master progressive unit and I can hook up to 30 power in parks. You will have to two options. If you keep outside plug it in to a 50 amp power source then adapter to the trailer. If you hardwire it to the inside you will have to adapt the power to the unit (30 to 50) and then back to 30 for your trailer. Sound like it would be much easier to use the first option.
I can tell you it is a great peace of mind and can save some of the power sensitive equipment like the A/C and having the surge protection.

George,
Thanks, and I think I will definitely pick one up next time I'm at Camping World, unless there is someplace to get them cheaper...but of course I will need the hasp to lock it down too
Thanks,
Jim

I have seen many who put a chain or hasp to keep them from walking away. Look into an progressive unit like livewire is using. The two I know about are Power master or autoformer that not only takes care of surge conditions but will boost or reduce voltage if needed. Tweetys rv supply has the autoformers for $613 and the power master for $699. I know they are a couple of hundred dollars more but that extra protection. I am a power master guy but both do the same thing and would recommend both.

It doesn't,it does have a range from low 104 to a high of 132 volts. When either of these are exceeded it shuts power down to the trailer and monitors power until a safe range appears again then has a two minute delay and restores power. What I like about the unit is an easy to read digital display that performs a check when you plug into hydro and again a delay before power is sent to trailer. It also constantly performs checks and your readouts are continual on the display the only negative for some may be the size. They do have units that will do what you want, maybe best to visit site www.technorv.com and compare models. They were very good to deal with and you can contact them by e-mail.
Also noticed on their site that they will be attending many RV shows this year maybe one may be close to you.
