Frame Rust

Anybody else have frame rust on newer campers? Ours is a 2017 and a large patch of paint came off the frame and rusted.

Nope we have a 2015 290QB and no rust on the frame. I would get it warranted or sand it and paint it blake ASAP.

Do the warranties cover the frame after the normal 1 year warranty runs out?

I would sand it and coat it with a rust convertor. Then a good coat of Rustoleum.

Frame

I was putting air In the tires tonight and also noticed that there are rust spots the entire length of the frame. And the leaf springs are horrible.

I keep my 2016 in an enclosed building except when I’m camping and it’s the same. I just try to sand down. Clean with mineral spirits let dry and pant with a rustoleum paint. Never ending maintenance.

I'm with Mark5w , light sanding rust reformer, rattle can finish. Usually go over it once a month. Also look over the wiring, plumbing, and spring mounts at the same time. Amazing what just dragging it around the county does. Happy Trails [emoji41]

The trailer was probably delivered in the winter with salty roads and salt just sat on the frame and other metal parts and rusted . Your black gas pipe and fittings wil look ugly too ...sand and paint . Dealer will only do the same but with much slop and overspray .

Just towing the trailer will chew up the underside of any trailer or vehicle.

Hitch mounted flaps help but only minimize the total effect.

Once a pin hole or edge rusts on a powder coated member, it’s over. All you can do is sand and paint.

I personally don’t and won’t worry about surface rust on my trailer frame. I worry about the areas that hold water and debris.
