Fresh water vent siphons?

I vaguely recall hearing something about a known issue with the vent lines from the fresh water tanks.

Before our last trip I added 40 gallons of fresh water to top off the tanks before a long stay (six days in the boondocks). Both tanks started flowing through the vents and it created a siphon that kept draining for about a half hour. After that I turned the hose down real low to replace the water that had barfed out and was able to fit almost 70 gallons back into the tank.

I assume the fact that the vent lines hang down so low is what's causing the siphon. I don't want to trim them without checking here first to find out if this is a known problem and what the recommended remedy is.

Thanks!
Dave

Thanks Lloyd. I read through that thread a couple of times and the response from Crossroads doesn't seem to match my build. My vent lines both drop below the bottom of the tank. They don't make any sense to me.

My rig only has 1 vent line for the fresh water tank and it is connected to the same box as the fill tube. Maybe yours became disconnected from that fill box?

I'll try to get over to the storage yard this weekend (if it isn't raining) and snap a few photos of the drains.

I wouldn't cut it off, but add a couple feet to it & push up further to stop the siphon effect, may have take down the basement wall to clear a path for the extra tubing.
