I have observed the front cap of my Crossroads Cruiser moving up and down slightly while travelling. While looking in my inside rearview mirror it looks like it is moving up and down by about 1/2 an inch in relation to the pin box while driving down a paved highway . The metal moldings that run on either side of the pin box towards the intersection with the front cap are bent down as well.

Hopefully this picture shows enough detail to describe what I mean. The moldings on both sides are bent down.

Is this normal? Has anyone else seen this?

This occurs occasionally on our trailer as well, though I have not noticed the cap moving in relation to the pinbox. Every once in a while i simpy notice that the trim has "popped" out.

I have had the trim "move" in that location. I would only be concerned if the SIDE trim on the cap and TOP trim at the roof was moving!

Yep. Same thing here. One year at the factory rally I asked about it and was told than a little flex was acceptable

Thanks for the replies to my concern. I'll keep an eye on it.

My PP also tends to flex a little but I would be concerned if it flexed enough to pop rivets. That just seems unacceptable to me.

Exactly the same symptoms. I have bent the moldings back to their original position and the next trip they are bent down again. The Dealer says " No problem, it is normal. " Yet ??

Billyrabbit - we had the same issue on a heartland bighorn. the comment was from the factory that it should not move. We had the front repaired only to have it begin another month or so later. We got rid of that trailer. We are in the process of (what we thought) was an upgrade to a 35CK - however, I am now quite concerned that "walls" move in CRs as well - some flex yes - an inch or so? Seriously? If the camper is built out of a "gorilla cage" why would it move. It (per crossroads) is the strongest built cage in the land.....It really makes no sense to me whatsoever that a wall or frontcap could or would move. Movement will only worsen until something cracks. Then when itcracks the response will be to "Remove thepressure" by cutting theoutside wall and putting sometype of molding over it to hide it...but the problem still exists.Having gone through this, I can tell you that your camper is worth considerably less with cracks/mouldings covering cracks. My wife and I are quite concerned aboutthis and the responses as typed from the factory and owners...... Seems that it is a matter of time until something else moves...and cracks develop.

We hope you don't go through what we had to.

Byron & Gail.

I don't believe your cap is moving, the pin box and frame is flexing. My 30SK does this a little also even with the cushioned pin box.

I assume another Lippert frame issue that hopefully won't result in a bigger problem.

I agree with BipeFlier on the pin box and frame flex. My 26RK also shows a little of this. (not nearly as much tho) I have been measuring distance from pin box to a spot I selected on the cap before hooking up, and then again after the rig is set on the truck. So far it only shows approx. 1/8in. difference. Hopefully it won't change from that.

I have been watching mine for the last two and half years, have towed it a lot over 10000 miles this year alone. The trim movement does come from the kingpin movement, and I have the Demco Glide rite on it. The measurements I took when I first noticed it have stayed the same
