Smile Front Cap Protection

Am curious if anyone one here has used the new 3M 90100 Paint Defender on the lower front cap? I have a 2014 32 RL TT and thought this might be a good idea. It is intended for automobiles to protect against rock chips, grime, etc. Is supposed to peel right off for reapply after about a year. I know mud flaps are best but this sounds like a good addition. Any comments?
