Furnace

I got rid of a 1978 Layton last Spring which had electric furnace and A/C.

While I don't need the furnace frequently, I found out mine on my 2015 Zinger has a gas furnace...I was hoping that shore power would work and my LP would last forever(not really) on my stove/oven. We are in a permanent campsite with a full hook-up.

Are most of today's rigs equipped with a gas furnace?

Pretty much across the board. I do believe there is a heater that can be added to the ac but I'm not really familiar with it. We use the fireplace for heat and a small ceramic heater. That way, we only use the lp furnace for colder nights.

Agree with Mark. Fireplace & space heater is what most of us use with only an occasional use of the furnace when it get really cold.

We use a ton more propane for our gas fire ring than we use to heat the RV.

There are a couple of choices that I know of, one is called cheap heat which modifies your existing furnace by adding an electric heating element to it. you them can use the furnace on electric or propane. The other is heat pumps on the ac units. We fulltime and use the heat pumps on both our ac's all winter. They are designed so when the outside temp gets down to 30 degrees they will shut down and the furnace will kick in
