furnace ignites heat for 5 min then only fan

This happened once in the early spring and again on the last trip.

I set the thermostat to heat and auto set the temp. The furnace turns on and ignites. The furnace stays on and we get heat for about 5 minutes then the furnace shuts down and the fan continues to run with no heat. Turn off thermostat and back on and the same thing occurs.

I have good airflow and tried some other trouble shooting steps I found good propane flow to all other areas. stoves and water heater, with good constant flame. So far it worked to fix the problem both times if I shut off the furnace, unplug shore power and disconnect the batter. Reconnect everything fire it up and again so far this fixed the problem and it functioned as it should.

Anyone have this problem, know how to fix it the right way?

Sounds like a dirty flame sensor.

The furnace has a "sail switch" for the outside air used for combustion. If air flow is slightly restricted due to misalignment of the vent tubes or bug debris inside the tube, then the "sail switch" will keep propane shut off to the igniter. Same will happen if 12v power is marginal to the blower motor. This normally happens when not hooked to shore power as the battery drops in voltage, but a poor connection can get hot since the blower draws about 7 amps, then voltage drops at the blower and it goes just a little slower. The motor turns two fans, one for inside air and one for the combustion air, that second fan could be damaged or slipping on the shaft, causing the sail switch to shut propane off.

did anyone ever take out the furnace on the 290QA. There is no outside access. took off the inside cover and appears need to disconnect all the ducts and gas line then you can remove the furnace on the inside?

I would make sure you do not have any vents covered up. Sounds like you are tripping a high limit on the furnace. If it gets to hot it will shut off the flame and when it cools down it will reset and come back on. It needs all the air flow it can get.
