I agree with determining what you need to power. In my case, it was important to be able to cool off the 5ver until it cooled off outside while overnighting in Walmart or in National Forest campsites. I liked the Yamaha 2400is because of its size, fuel economy and its ability to run my 15000BTU AC(when nothing else is running) with the quick start capacitor installed.
If you need to power more (or less) then you have many choices to right size the generator (inverter) to those needs. As for Yamaha or Honda, I think they are of equal quality. I went with Yamaha because Honda did not have an option at the 2400 range just 1000, 2000 or 3000 (or buy two and hook together) which I did not make economical sense to me.
