Have a 15k BTU AC in my 2010 Cruiser CF30QB, How many watt generator do I need for it to run?

I use the Kipnor 3000. You do need to install a hard start capacitor otherwise it will overload the unit.

The capacitor is a SPP5 fromwww.supco.com

It takes about 10 minutes to install and now it works great.

I have the hard start capacitor in my 15K AC (in my 2010 CF 27RLX) also and can run it (barely) with my Yamaha 2400is. But if you don't want to worry about power management, you need a larger generator than mine.

I went to Tractor Supply and picked one up for $300. It's a 3500 watt and runs my 15k ac and every thing else I want to. It will not run the a/c and the micro at the same time, Not sure if the hot water heater was running on electric or gas at the time.

I like it as it's not too loud and it fit's in the basement easily and very easy to start.

I have a 3500w champion generator. It will runthe A/C and microwave at the same time. It also hasa 30 amp RV plug built in.

I just looked at the Champion 3,500W generator and it really has a bunch of good reviews. I'm curious how you handle something that heavy in the basement. The data sheet says it weighs around 109 pounds. I can't imagine putting that in and out of the basement on my 30SK. I'm not sure if it would even fit with all the "wonderful things" my DW has in there

Wow Jeb, that is a very cool install! I'm surprised that the drawer slide could support that much weight when it's pulled out all the way.
What model Cruiser is that in?

The slides were chosen for their weight bearing capacity. They do fine with no droop.

That's a Paradise Pointe but there's no reason it wouldn't work on a Cruiser. One person can put it in place or remove it when it's not needed with not a lot of trouble. I have a wagon I use to haul it into the garage when I'm not using it. I don't leave it in the trailer only because I think it's better stored inside a building.

I also put in an outlet so it can be plugged in right there in the basement rather than running a cord all the way to the external outlet at the rear of the trailer. The breaker box was put in so that the outlet can be isolated as a safety measure for when hooked to shore power.

The Champion 3500/4000 handles one A/C comfortably but not with the microwave. I also don't run the elec H/W heater while using it. It also runs for a little over 10 hours on a tank, so you can fill it before going to bed and it will run an A/C all night. Since it's under the bedroom, I pay close attention to the carbon monoxide detector in the bedroom and it has never even tweeked. It exhausts into the air and if there is no breeze, I can plug that fan shown in the pictures into it directly and provide my own breeze to carry away any exhaust that might wish to sneak into the basement.

i have a kipor 3000. it runs my 15k a/c with no problem. if i need the microwave i just turn the a/c off for the minute or two while i'm microwaving. we beach camp and we use our county parks alot and they do have decible limits.(which mine is quiter than needed)mine is also safe to run sensitive electrical equiptment...laptops...etc. it also has a "smart throttle" it kicks the rpm's down when there isnt a load on it. it does weigh about 140lbs. so i keep it mounted on my platform at the rear of my trailer, but i used to hump it in and out of my bunk house exterior storage door.

I have a Honda EU3000is and run my 15,000 btu air on a 09 Cruiser.After starting it I turn the themostat down and put it on econ mode.Seems like it runs forever on a tank of gas.Best generator I ever had.I carry it on a platform on the back bumper and have done so for 2 years.

its custom rack. pretty simple. its just two receiver tubes welded to each frame rail and a basic 1" box tube frame (removable)with expanded metal(mesh) for the floor. i made a piece on the drivers side that i canstrap the front tire of the bike to. no wobble at all.

This hard start capacitor you say cures the generator from overload,,does it go on the generator or the A/C unit? 15k a/c using honda 3000

The hard start capacitor goes on your AC unit. It provide and extra boost to get the compressor going, easing the load on the power supply.

Very similar to my setup with a Honda 6500 EUis generator.
I mounted my generator on a swivel table to be able to direct exhaust gases away from trailer. I did not wire a cord into wiring panel - I just use shore power cord and attach it directly into generator with appropriate adapter plug. Honda generators are pricy but are 56 Db which is very quiet. Runs all electrical needs including two ACs and convection microwave. ECO mode works very well.

Project is still a work in progress function. Need to paint wood platform. Installed a sealed on all sides and top box around storage compartment to prevent gas and carbon monoxide from entering basement of trailer - used some old formica panelling with caulking to seal gaps (CrossRoads does not build square and true trailers - had to custom fit all panels.)
Now working on a lock mechanism that will guarentee generator will not exit thru doors while traveling around right-hand turns - reason for additional tie-down strap in last picture. Pictures should show threaded rod that assists in supporting front edge of platform by tying to frame above - when generator is extended, a heavy load is placed on front edge. 2X4 supports in back prevent tipping of unit - base to ceiling above - unit is only wood screwed to basement floor for position only - did not want to remove belly pan to install bolt thru floor on my Seville.
Unit is easy to setup - carrying 50 AMP cord is much more difficult! In future may have to consider direct wire with transfer switch.

Also installed a battery bank and two inverters, 1000 and 3000 watt capabilities. 1000 watt is used for our King Sized Sleep Number bed pump system and my CPAP machine - it is wired totally separate from normal trailer wiring and is used only when needed for naps when needed. No additional setup required other than turning on inverter unit and plugging into that circuit instead of normal wall circuit. 3000 watt unit is for emergency use only - heavy drain on batteries.
