Has any one used the Yamaha 2000 generator. Any one used the Honda 2000 and the 2000 companion together? The companion has the 30 amp outlet on it.
thanks

I have the Honda 2000 companion but don't use two of them.I bought the EU3000 is for using air condition and the 2000 for always having a power supply with me when traveling.I have seen several 2000 tied together and using a boat tank feeding the two.I think when I sale mine 3000 because of the hours on it I may go to the two 2000 hondas. They should run longer than 3000 will and that is a long time.

In 2006 I purchased two Honda 2000 generators. I also purchased the parallel kit at the same time. The parallel kit ties both together for 4000 watts. It also has a 30 amp breaker and a 30 amp receptacle. I really like the pair. When dry camping I can plug into the 30 amp receptacle on the parallel kit and start either generator when using lights ect; or start both generators at the same time for using the air condition. They are very quiet. I also use them for power tools when power is not close by. I also like the fact that I can load one at a time weighing in at 46.3 Lbs. I would recomend them.

I have the 2000. Was going to get the Companion, but the dealer asked me why, of course I said---the 30amp receptacle. He said that won't do you any good if you only run one gen. One gen. doesn't put out 30 amps. So I saved some money and just bought the regular 2000. That one runs everything we need it to. Including the A/C and micro.

I have a pair of the Honda 2000s, minedoes not have the built in 30 amp plug like the new ones do, but I do have a parallel kit and tie them together to use the 30 amp. I wish they would have had the parallel kit built in (companion) when I bought mine. I also really like the Hondas for the same reasons Deputydog cited, convient, quiet, and easy to handle.

We have a pair of Champion 2000's that perform very well for us. We use them much like Deputydog. The total cost including the parallel kit was under $1000. You might be interested in looking at this thread in that other forum

Thanks for the info. I have a Honda 3000 commercial that runs 68 decibels. It's not real loud, but it could be quieter and lighter. I ordered a Yamaha 2000 because it has a fuel shut off and gauge. It will be big enough to run everything other than a/c. If it works well perhaps I'll get another one and sell my Honda. Had a hard time deciding which one to order.
Thanks

I just purchased the Yamaha 2000, it should arrive next week and we will have a chance to use it- I'll update.

Anyone know a good way to mount them to the TT?

After reading comments on that one report that said the Honda handled heavy load starting better than the Yamaha, perhaps I bought the wrong unit! It seem like there is always trade offs!! I do like the fuel shut off and the gauge though. When they only hold 1 gallon or so, I suppose you will be topping the tank off often. I have a Yamaha ATV that I like, so maybe I was leaning to the Yamaha anyway. I'll give an up date after it arrives and I try it out. I hope that it is quieter than my present unit.

Starting a 13.5K air conditioner would be iffy with either the 2000 Honda or that Yammy. Works for some, others not. I have the Yammy 2400, can run about 8 hours on a single 1.6 gal tank of gas when using it normally (no AC).

You canhave the genny, either Honda or Yamaha, run longer with an auxilary fueltank. All you need is a portable marine tank, some fuel line, a couple of in-line shutoff valves and an extra fuel cap for the genny. Took less than an hour to assemble or you can order them online ready to go (just need to get a spare fuel cap). I've run my Honda EU2000i nonstop for a couple of days. You can add an inline T to run twin genniesif youlike. The guy I got the idea from was running a pair of Hondas non-stop for several days.

I'm not expecting the 2000 Yamaha to run the a/c. I might try it, but I don't think it will. We dry camp some, but don't always need the ac. I was wanting a quieter unit and the 2000's appear to use less fuel than what I have been using. Should get the Yammie this week.

Yes, it runs my 13.5K AC as long as I do not have any other real loads on it. Radio and a couple lights are OK. If I have the TV and sat system on the voltage will drop low enough for a split second to reboot the sat system. This was on my old Forrest River rig, haven't tried it with the 15K in the new Cruiser.

The EF2400 Yamaha is rated the same as the Honda 2000---16.7 amps. I owned one, thought I was getting something just a little bit more then the Honda, not so. The only thing more was the weight. So I sold it this winter and bought another Honda 2000. There is about 30# difference in weight between them. I owned a 2000 Honda back in 2004 when we had the HH. That had a 15000 A/C. That little Honda would start and run it. Maybe I have just been lucky, but that's my experiences.

I received the 2000 Yamaha generator. It started on the first pull, like some said it would. I used the top piece off a quart gear lube container to put the motor oil in the unit. It screwed on to the top of motor oil container. I like the econo throttle and it's quieter than my other generator. When running the microwave, it's noisier than I thought it would be, but a little quieter than the other generator. It uses less fuel than other generator, but it won't start the A/C. When you have two of these units hooked together, are the two units full throttle when running the A/C. What's your guess about how much throttle it takes to run the A/C with the units running together?? (Honda or Yamaha)Thanks for any info!!
