Has anyone replaced their grab handle next to the entry door?

My grab handle has to be in the "out" position for the door to be opened. I'd rather have a grab handle that doesn't fold in the "closed" position over the door.

Anyone done a replacement? If so what did you use?

thanks,

I would never do without my big folding grab handle. To me the small handle's may as well not be there at all.

Interesting feedback. Itoo like the large grab handle, but it folds over the door, blocking the door closed.

So when I am in the RV, the grab handle must be in the open position. If that grab handle were closed (accidently or on purpose), the door would be blocked, locking me in.

Just looking for another option.

Wow Joe I seriously never thought about that. I wouldn't give up the big grab handle personally! Mine does fol either way, though. I have only seen two types, the crappy white plastic mini handle and the larger folding type. Good luck,

If youswitch the brackets (flip them) it would fold the other way, at least mine would.

I agree with the above comments about the wimpy little handle. The handle on my 30SK folds both ways but unfortunately with the slide out you can only have it open or closed over the door. I sure hope the word about closing it over the door never gets out to the kids that like to play pranks, I'm afraid my fire escape window would get put to use

The grab handle folds in both directions, but on the 30sk, the awning is in the way of folding away from the door. Consequently, there is only one way to fold the handle, and that's over the door.

I stopped by Camping World today to compare the drill holes. There is no replacement for the big grab handle. It appears you either live with the potential of being locked in, or you remove the big handle.

Not the greatest design.

Another issue is ease of grabbing the larger handle before climbing up the first step. My wife would have a harder time getting in and out if there wasn't a large handle to grab onto to get up on the first step.

We have both the folding and the small one. My wife 5 ft overweight, bad knees, Blonde 68 years. before the folding one she had a hard time getting to the first step, then when on the second step the door would hit her it the head (Blonde). After a while she then would open the door on the first step By having both she can get up the first step with folding one and then if she remembers(Blonde) open the door and then uses the small handle the rest of the way. Oh by the way she does not know how to use the computer (Blonde) so my comments will not b e read by her (I Think)

OK so I gotta admit I just went out and shut the long suffering ever loving DW in the trailer and closed the handle it flipped right back open when she opened the door. You would really have to make the kids mad so that they tied it closed to the door stop or something.Or else had a really good supply of frosty adult beverages in the cooler outside the trailer,in which case the little rascals can barricade you in with your folding chair wedged between the door and the step. When it comes to torment where there is a will there is a way

WOW! I'll try this tomorrow. I never thought to simply push on the handle. I assumed the handle had to be lifted from the slots then moved.

This forum is great. Thanks everyone.

Thanks a lot RV-Rick, I guess I did miss it but I am old and slow, and at my age you can remember everything, but just cannot recall it. She is kinda of use to my BS, as today (I did recall this) was our 47 anniversary.
