grease seals

Has anyone ordered grease seals from Lippert?
What info did they want, and how long did it take to get them?

Lloyd,I would think you should be able to get them from most part stores.

I picked up a set 2 years ago at Napa. I know I don't have 2000 mi. on them. Today I pulled one of the drums just to see. I caught it just in time, the spring was about 1/3 out, and the grease was just starting to show on the outside of the seal. I will feel very lucky when I pull the other ones if they aren't any worse. No more Napa seals for me!!

I just found this site in my info that somebody posted. Ring a bell with anyone?

I get my seals from etrailer too. They also have the rubber caps for the easy lube axles.

I ordered seals from Lippert last year. I just gave them the info I found on the web site, I believe it was for a 5200 lb rated axle. The price was reasonable, however, because I'm in Canada, shipping &brokerage etc cost more than the seals.

It's been a couple of years but my recollection is that they are a little slow getting them shipped. I would allow a couple of weeks for delivery.

They have a double lip seal, affordable, the people are easy to talk with, and the seals are on the way.
I was looking the bearings over a little closer yesterday. Decided to order bearings and races also. The bearings are good, but the steel is soft and it was showing a lot of wear on the ends of each bearing. So with a 4000--5000 mi. trip coming up, I thought it better to just replace everything. I will feel more comfortable now.
Price was right. They blew Napa right out of the water.

All of the bearings in the new trailers, as well as most of the ones sold on the internet are made in China. I recently bought one set of Timken bearings made in the U.S. and they were about three times the price of those made in China. Keep in mind not all of Timken's products are made in the U.S., but all seem to have superior quality.

In the long run I have no idea if it's worth spending the extra money. I can visually see a difference, but don't know if a well lubed bearing of either quality would outlast the other. As I mentioned in another post, I cleaned the bearings on my 2 year old trailer and out of eight bearings found one to be in terrible condition. I suspect it came from the factory that way and I'm surprised it lasted 12K Miles.

We have a great little store in our town, Redneck Trailor Supply. You can get any thing from parts for your big Semi to your smallest utility trailor. Price is reasonable and parts are on hand,also name brand products. I like that.

Here's a Lippert "success story". Earlier this week I determined that I better order some seals for my Zinger. I sent an email to Lippert store site early on Tuesday morning (Feb 7). They responded to me within 15 minutes telling me that I needed a number from the axle. I sent all numbers I could find...serial number of axle, and designation that it's 2000-3500 lb axle. That was sent late in the afternoon on Tuesday. Seals were shipped on the 8th..Wednesday. I received seals yesterday, Thursday the 9th. That's some service. Granted they went from Goshen, to Indianapolis to Lafayette and then to me in Rensselaer. Now that I have the correct part numbers it's a quick trip to the computer to purchase the seals. Incidentally, the seals don't have any numbers on them, but look to be well made.
