How Much Weight Do You Carry?
I know most people do not pay much attention to it, but we have looked at different RV's and most of them have under 2000lbs of carrying capacity. Ours is rated for 4000lbs so I know we don't get close to that, but if you had one with a 1500 lb rating before propane, water and battery that does not leave much for essentials.
That is the one thing that keeps us from trading.

I'm about 225 pounds, but trying to lose some...
Oh, you mean my trailer!
I have a tongue scale, so I'm guessing we "kitchen sinked" a trip with about 1,000 lbs a couple times based a tongue weight guestimates.

We carry about 500 lbs. of stuff, not counting any water (used or unused). When we head to Florida we carry a lot more stuff. We had the rig weighed once.
A few years ago we spoke to a couple at a campground and they told us someone had come around once and offered money to any RVers who would remove everything from their rig to be weighed. They were gathering information. It appears the average was 500 lbs. of stuff.
I hope this helps.

For a tt comparison: Our old zinger had a dry brochure weight of about 5700 lbs. We were 7300 lbs scaled ready to camp. That's 1600 lbs of I don't know what or where it came from added in. Although, we are a family of three plus a dog.
For our fiver: it lists a dry brochure Weight of 10,900 lbs. Loaded ready to camp it weighed in at 12,380 lbs. That is 1,480 lbs of junk in the trailer.
I've always seen to allow for an average of 1000-1500 lbs of gear when camping. Those claiming 500 lbs, does that include your propane, battery, and everything you put in the trailer? I'm betting a trip to the scales will tell you differently. This all said, amounts vary based on number of people travelling, length of time spent on the road and what kinds of things you like to keep in the trailer.

Here are our numbers:
cargo weight available - 2581 lbs
trailer dry - 9,626 lbs (according to number inside a cabinet)
trailer loaded (on a scale) - 10,516 lbs
So this means we had 900 lbs of stuff. That surprises me now when I think about it.
I guess I was a bit off before. I think I may have been quoting the weight our previous truck could pull. (This is why we finally bought a new truck).
When we put it on the scale, we were carrying our regular gear, no water, and we were ready to go camping for a weekend. So not a ton of clothes or food. We are much heavier when we go to Florida.
I am more accurate now as we are camping this weekend so I am actually inside the trailer where the numbers are readily available.
Now a caveat here - I do not know if they weigh the trailer at the factory before or after they put the furniture in. Christian, as you able to get the answer to that question? I am pretty sure the weight number written inside the cabinet by hand was when they weighed the trailer right after it was built. I just don't know if the recliners & couch were in there.
I know our trailer weighs more now because we replaced the mattress with a much heavier one, and we have added a few more things since we had it weighed.

This should be correct. They are to be weighed as they come off the line.

The couch and recliners are pretty heavy, so they would add quite a bit to the overall weight.

Hi!
All of our units are weight when they come off line- which means they have all of the appliances and furniture in them when they are weighed :-)
Also, all of the tanks are completely empty at that time.
Hope this helps!
