I'm a menace.

Forgot to close tailgate on truck. Wrecked front baggage door. Any ideas where to find replacement? My wife says I'm a menace.....

Sean
I would call Crossroads and have them send out a replacement, then auto body for paint to match...I don't know if after market sell replacement doors or not...Or take it to an auto body shop and let them fix it...IMHO...

I thought I would check here before calling CR. There is a part number on it and it says tan, so hopefully won't have to paint.

I called Crossroads. They told me I had to go through my local dealer. I contacted CW. The door is $237.08. The door has to be ordered from the factory, may need to be made. I expected it to cost between $100 and $250.

The cost for shipping is up to $200! That's crazy. I think that is excessive.

Anyone have any other suggestions for a type of place that could possibly do the repair? I think I'm going to end up using some thin diamond plate and maybe spray painting it beige/tan as close to the color of the body as possible. What a racket.

If the panel is still flat, use body filler to repair it. Then take it to an autobody shop for the final paint coat. I'm sure they could get pretty close in the color match.

Part of the panel is torn out. The foam core is broken. The inner white backing is in-tact. Figure I can use that as template to cut out new front piece if I have to.

I'd take it apart, replace the foam, add the aluminum you mentioned without paint (paint doesn't adhere well to aluminium), after towing a while that front will be full of small rock chips from your tv anyway.
If you don't like that look, go to your local LineX dealer & have them spray the lower 3'+/- with color matched bedliner, no more rock chips.

I would take it, or a picture of it, to your local auto body shop and get an estimate...

I agree, take it off, close the opening with plastic and duct tape for a few days, and take it to your trusted autobody mechanic. My nephew has a shop and fixes fiberglass stuff all the time as I assume most do. Should come out looking like new.

Ask CR if they can ship the part in the next RV that is going to your dealer, that should save shipping cost.

Google rv baggage door. Found a company called RecPro. Just plug in your measurements for a price. They also offer a choice of finishes. Maybe worth checking out.

I just don’t see how shipping is that much....that sounds like ltl freight charges.

No way is that door more than 70 lbs and costs more $50 shipping ups ground. It wouldn’t even be considered over sized for UPS or FedEx.

I’d call CW and tell the to prove it...not just estimated from the counter commando. You could even use the estimator for UPS based on your existing.

I’d replace it but I’m anal like that and hate things that look / work “good enough”.

Door replacement

My side door broke at the hinge.
It had to come from Lippert and was around $300 but the shipping was $90.
If i knew that I would have made one from plywood and painted it.

Great idea. I'm going to claim it on my insurance, pay the $250 deductible. Local auto body will do the whole thing for parts, freight and about $175.
