We will be moving from Calgary to Houston in September, as such,I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with importing an RV to the US. There seems to be a wealth of information about going from the US to Canada, but info about going from Canada to the US seems to be non-existent.

Thanks.

Each state has the same basis rules, but also have some special stuff. Your best bet is to contact the dep of rev. of texas and request this info. Welcome to the USA

I don't know what you would have to do as far as bringing your RV down but get ready for a big change in weather!

Thanks, the state registration seems pretty straight forward and the process is well documented on the DMV website. However, I am still looking for info about the process to clear US Customs and import the RV. I am curious about what documentation is needed and any modifications required. For example, to take my truck to the US, I need a letter of compliance from GM and need to change my passenger airbag indicator light from the Canadian symbol based to the US text based in order to import to the US.

An update to the above for anyone who may be interested: All that was required at the border was our bill of sale and vehicle registration/title. Customs and Border Protection then completed and gave us Form HS-7 which is required to register/title our fifth wheel in the US. Additional documentation and modifications were required to import our truck.
