Intermittantly losing water pressure

Here we go with my first post.

Dry camping and while taking a shower, the pump lost prime with the shower head turned off via the push button but the water valves still on. When it was time to rinse off, no water and a few swear words came out. My wife cycled the pump switch a couple of times, turned on the kitchen faucet and eventually pressure came back.

Now I notice the pump occasionally runs with a low steady noise and it's not pumping water. I usually can open a faucet and you hear it prime itself again and shutoff.

After checking this forum, I checked what I could within the pump/water heater compartment and didn't find anything loose where the system is sucking air.

Any thoughts? If this happens to my wife, I'll silently be laughing but in deep kimchi.

Thanks, Mike

I had the same issue with mine. What is happening is you are losing prime at the pump. What I found is when I reconnected the hose for the inlet from winterizing it, there was a seal type thing or something that fell out I didn't see when I reconnected the suction hose from the on board tank. After I put that back in all was well. Get a flashlight and look around to see if the same thing happened to you.

Somehow you are losing prime.

Mike

Those cheap white plastic valves by the pump for switching from pulling from the tank to sucking in antifreeze for winterizing were my culprit. I changed then out with brass ball valves and all had been good since. Somewhere air is getting in and it's not sealed.

Didn't find a seal or anything that dropped, unscrewed the connection but don't know what the seal looks like so not sure if it's missing.

thanks

Also check the outside shower if you have one close the valves.

Don't be surprised if the pump itself is bad. Happens

Not sure how long you've had your rig but if you have two fresh water tanks like mine, once you loose the suction from that empty tank, as others have also said, your pump makes noise but doesn't work.
I know to flip to my second tank and once the air supply is shut off, we're back in business.

I may just replace the pump this winter along with the plastic valves.

Have you checked to see if there is a filter on the pump? Mine has one and it does suck up stuff on occasion and needs cleaning. Also there could be stuff that has made it past the pump and is partially clogging the faucets and or other outlets.
